I think the reason America does this is that they always plan to make freedom their goal, but they realize that it is very hard to make sure that everyone has freedom. I think Americans do all believe that their country is free but that is on ly because they have been shielded from all the pieces that make America look bad. During the Japanese internment camps the US was mainly just paranoid because they didn't know if Japan had spies that were planning an attack on America so to protect their country they tried to be as careful as possible. As for the African Americans, I think that white Americans still thought of them as lowly and they didn't think that they counted as a real American and therefore did not deserve a right to freedom.

I think that America truly does have freedom as their goal but they might be overlooking people. I think America might've had the approach to freedom for everyone as some students have towards school, they just overlook certain things and think that it will be solved on it's own. Now don't get me wrong, there were many racial factors that played a part as well, but this may also have been a key factor as well. I think that many of the Americans that think their country is free and amazing may only think this because they do not have to live in another country where life is much much harder. I will never be able to understand why other races were looked down upon, I just really cannot comprehend it, but I do believe that many races were overlooked and discriminated upon because they were not like everyone else, and that their problems would eventually "magicly" fix themselves.

I think that America does this because when they say they are going to let everyone have freedom, they only mean white Americans. I think during the Japanese internment camps, they got put in there because they thought there could be a spy so they put the Japanese in internment camps for the Americans. Also they want other people to respect the white Americans while they also get the greater quality things and get treated better. Again this is because they really mean only Americans can have freedom and they think they have accomplished their goal when they make the white Americans more respected even though they are just showing freedom to specific people.

I think that America denies certain peoples freedoms because they want to keep their country safe. After Pearl Harbor, they put the Japanese in camps so that they don't have Japanese people spying on them. I think that Americans judge people based off their race.

I think that when the Americans say that the everyone get's freedom, in reality the freedom is just for the white people. They don't want to give the colored/different people freedom because they think they might harm the white Americans. For example when the the Japanese attacked at Pearl Harbor, they now think that all Japanese are the bad people. The Americans just want to keep themselves safe but it isn't far to the other colored/different people because the Americans just assume that all of them are bad. I get why the Americans sent the Japanese to the camps but that isn't far for the people who did nothing wrong. The Americans just basically want to be safe from any harm. I also feel like they are trying to give everyone rights and freedom but at that time it was hard because WW2 was going on.

I think that the US doesn't give freedom to non white races because the government wants to keep the majority of the American population happy. White people make up more than half of the population which could play a factor on why the segregation happened. Another reason why segregation could have happened is the government may not trust other countries like Japan, after what they did to our country (bomb Pearl Harbour).

The US thinks that they are free country and people could do whatever they want but in reality they are actually realizing that to free everyone is harder then it seems. Whites were racist to African-Americans when most whites owned slaves, but now the government is addressing white and black water fountains and bathrooms and more items. The US thinks that putting a name saying that the US is a free country is the right thing to do, but the US is not a free country. Most white probably thought that the Africans -Americans were lower then them due to a different skin tone and that is why the Africans- Americans were not treated the same as the Americans.

Theirs one reason why America denies it own citizens freedom but not other societies that they are trying to make free. This one reason, or at least why I think their doing this is because they don't actually want citizens free, but to join them. Think about it if the US is known by the people that free the inprisoned then everyone would want to live there, and If everyone lives there then the US can expand as an society. In reality the US isn't acting on kindness, but what their actually acting on is greed.

I think that America does want to have freedom, but there are many things that prevent the US from actually getting there. Of course, racism is a huge factor in this, white people looked down on colored people and believed that because they weren't white, they didn't deserve freedom. Though that is is large factor in this, another reason why the US may deny citizens their right to freedom even though that is what they claim America is all about might have to do with the government. The government of the US has the most power, and i think that its power is abused very often. Many people are denied their rights as a citizen by the government for unjust and selfish reasons, and since the government holds the most power, usually not much is done about it which only leads to more problems.

I think that America as a whole wants freedom, but so there are many obstacles that stop the freedom from spreading. Racism plays a huge role, because the white people are entitled to believe that they are better than any other race. Even if they are citizens, the other white America’s believe they aren’t because that’s what they learned when they were younger. As time goes on people start to realize more that everyone is equal, but like anything the progress is slow. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, all white Americans needed to point a blame on someone, and since they were also paranoid that blame went on the Japanese citizens of the US. Overall, I think that because America is a melting pot even back then, they had to learn some way to show power over another race.

I think that America did have freedom as a goal, but I also think that some races were overlooked. Young, white citizens had more of a chance of complete "freedom". The US liked to assign blame and often times they blame a race that isn't white.

I believe that America did, and still does have, freedom as a goal. There have been tiny steps taken, such as allowing all children to go to schools that don’t discriminate. Yes, the US has been racist, but it has also overlooked others. Not just those of a different race, but also those who have less than others do. Just because part of a society seems perfect, doesn’t mean that the rest will fix itself and rise to the level. When people are taught that they are better than someone, and they have a better chance at complete freedom, they tend to push others around so they can get what they want. That isn’t the ideal America. No one person is better than someone else, they just have different strengths. For America to reach its goal, everyone needs to pitch in. Not everyone wants to help, so the goal hasn’t been reached yet. Freedom or at least better treatment is given to those who are white or have a lot of money. This isn’t America, and it isn’t the goal. It will not be reached until the problems are solved.

America dose indeed have freedom. But the American people tend to feel like they are entitled to it while other races are not. I think this because all the white people get the high quality life while other races are looked down upon and treated differently, sometimes in a harsh way.

I believe that America is indeed trying to promote freedom little by little but, I also believe that America is trying to break it's bad habits of denying certain people rights just because they're different. I feel like entitlement definitely plays a role in the whole freedom thing, on account of the fact that back then white people still thought that they were better than literally every other race in existence and that they had better rights than everyone else. I believe that America was trying to show equality back then, just in a different and worse way than they are now.

I think the reason the United States ended up denying its own citizens their freedoms because they planned on doing giving them their freedoms but then realized how hard it was. They thought it was easy to allow different peoples in america but once they let some in they changed their minds. I think a big part of it is racism however it also has to do with the facts that the U.S. didn’t really think about what they were promising before they said it.
